Dog & Cat Licenses
** All dogs five months of age or older must be licensed per state law. **
License Fees
Neutered Male $11.00 Unaltered Male $16.00
Spayed Female $11.00 Unaltered Female $16.00
The fee is one-half of the above amount if the dog or cat becomes five months of age after July 1 of the license year. The license year commences on January 1 and ends on December 31.
You MUST provide a rabies vaccination certificate which includes the date, vaccine manufacturer and serial number of the current rabies vaccination before a license can be issued.
You also must provide evidence that the cat or dog is neutered or spayed.
A license CANNOT and WILL NOT be issued without this information!
You can obtain your license in a number of ways:
- Mail-Send your rabies information and payment to us (317 South Main Street, Jefferson, WI ). We will send you your license.
- Drop off payment and rabies information in the silver box outside our door (317 South Main Street).
- Send Rabies Information via email. angie@jeffersonwis.com and pay online using www.officialpayments.com. Please indicate that you have paid online.
- In office. Please refrain from this method if at all possible during the COVID 19 pandemic.
A late fee of $10.00 is charged for every dog and/or cat whose owner who fails to obtain a license prior to April 1 of each year, or within 30 days of the time a licensable dog or cat is obtained or a dog/cat reaches licensable age.
A late fee is charged PER ANIMAL, not PER OWNER. This is in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes.
