Tensfeldt Park’s current site will be displaced by January 2028 when construction is anticipated to begin on the city’s new wastewater treatment plant. As a result, the city has been taking steps to plan to relocate the park on the north side of the city along Dewey Ave. With the council’s site selection and master planning resolution in place, the city has recently issued a request for qualifications to select a firm to lead the project from planning through construction. There is a compressed timeline to try and capture the 2027 growing season to establish the fields, with an official grand opening anticipated in spring 2028. The public will have a chance to review and weigh in on the preferred design before it goes to council for final approval.
